Dear friends and family,
It is now April, which is cold and wet in the Netherlands, yet which is hot and wet here in Uganda. This causes runny noses, lots of coughing and fevers.
In addition, chickenpox has been rampant here in the home now for a month and a half. Can you just imagine that we are beginning to wonder whether, it'll ever pass?
One child after the other has fallen victim and it doesn't seem to come to an end. It has been very discouraging. Some children seem to have few symptoms, just some blisters, other are extremely sick and have high fevers. However, we were able to welcome, some new children.

Last Friday we were honoured with a visit from the Uganda Revenue authority. They came to us to see our children's home, visit our children and to bring us gifts for this Christmas. We were very surprised and proud that even the Revenue Authority is supporting us!

Newsletter school may 2007 |

This seems to us the most appropriate name for the school; from the Ark with the rainbow to a new Horizon.
A new horizon is what the children need in order to have a chance in the future.
In the entire area is only one elementary school for 600 children. We did some research and visited 2300 families in seven villages with a total of almost 10000 children within a radius of five kilometers.
